Simple. Because you don’t want identity fraud. Do you?
Recently, a friend of mine told me a mind-blowing credit card fraud. Last month, she activated her new credit card. But she made sure that she will not use it except for paying her phone bills. Her first monthly bill came and fainted for her bills. She has to pay a whooping Php18,000 by the credit card provider, for purchases that obviously she hasn’t made. Now, she filed a request for an investigation and she has to wait for 3 months before the credit card provider resolve the issue. But what if the thief is not traced, I guess she has no choice but to pay the bill. Now, that’s sad.
If you own a credit card and you haven’t heard such incidents, you must read on. We all know we can avoid this by keeping and protecting our confidential information. But what if you have been using a credit card for so long now? One way to avoid this is by checking our credit card statements for unnecessary charges – this early, you can catch up a thief who uses your account.
So you see, there is a possibility that someone can use your account. So by checking your credit score, you’re requesting for a check credit report to look into signs of probable fraud and prevent it. Identity fraud increases every year, not only in the Philippines but in the whole world. In this sinister type of credit fraud, anyone can steal your good credit reputation by creating accounts using your name, dispensing it as they please, and leave you busted with credit card agencies.
Identity fraud is something that you can notice, detect and prevent by scrutinizing your credit report carefully and regularly. So do it before this same incident happen to you.
